How Does Your Brain Development Timeline Work?

Brain is one of some other important things to have in the human body. Without this, we cannot think logically. We cannot choose what we want to eat, where we will be going to, what letter to be marked in your multiple choice exam, what subject you want to take in the college and others. Do you even know that our brain work, develops well since we were in the mother’s uterus? This is called the brain development timeline.

From an Innocent Baby to a Cute Little Grown Up

Since we were in our mother’s stomach during her pregnancy, our brain development timeline had been started. It is found to begin the neuron formation soon after our embryo has been there. In the upcoming five weeks after the conception occurred, human cells in the developing brain start to split fast into the huge amount of 100 billion cells. It does move to the place where exactly it must to be in the brain and the forming of synapses also has been started at this time. 

Once a mother gives birth to a baby, it is known that the weight of the infant brain is around 4 pounds which is similar to 350 grams. 100 billion neurons exist in this brain and here, the system connection to create the first survival in the baby is already developed well. In this brain development timeline stage, myelination, which has begun to reach the complete amount, continues to grow rapidly and form sight and hearing sense. The myelination process comes until early childhood because of the changes in size of brains. The phase is dominated by the pruning process in which the connection system is built from the experience of the baby. The grown up baby in early childhood begins to hear sounds of whatever languages around the world.

Brain’s development in a Charming Adolescent to a Mature Adult

In the brain development timeline, there comes a phase that apparently answers the question “when is the brain fully developed?” In this phase, the brain becomes more mature so that adolescents will be able to master the judgment, social conscience, insight perspective, obstacles, and reasons because the myelination and pruning continues to this level. After that, the frontal lobes also begin to grow, enabling the adolescent to see various concepts, take responsibility, and decide something. Here, the pruning activity is expanding larger so that the synapse formation occurs and builds cognitive, mental, and social development of adolescents. 

Brain development timeline still continues the journey to the phase of adulthood. The connection with two differences which are considered significant: the synapse formation is slower than what happens in childhood, and the synapses are created because of the specific experience only in adult’s phase. The adult will remember the chronicles they have seen in a certain event directly and become different to those who know that process from the news, because different networks are formed. In adult life, aging cannot be avoided. This also influences the brain’s health. When the brain is not used often, it might reach atrophy. To maintain the brain’s development and health, it is required for an adult to do some light activities like talking to anybody with family or neighbors, sharing some stories, reading books, and playing puzzles so that their brain remains active
